Citigroup spends $1.31 million on lobbying in 1Q

Citigroup Inc. spent $1.31 million during the first quarter to lobby the government on financial regulatory reform and other issues tied to lending, according to a disclosure filing.

The New York-based bank spent 5 percent more than the $1.25 million it spent during the same quarter last year and in the final quarter of 2009.

Citigroup lobbied both houses of Congress, the Council of Economic Advisers, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Office of Thrift Supervision, National Economic Council, Treasury Department, White House, Executive Office of the President, Federal Reserve system, Treasury Department, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Commerce Department, National Security Council and U.S. Trade Representative during the first quarter.
